Today we had a special guest speaker, my sister! Brittany is a nursing student at Tennessee Tech and as part of her requirements- she had to teach a class in some aspect of health. So, today Brittany (left) and her friend Sherrie talked to our class about germs. We learned a new little song about washing hands, listened to a story, colored a picture, and received new toothbrushes. Thanks nurses!
With our Christmas party approaching, I would like to inform you of how we will be doing our gift exchange this year. We are going to be "stuffing stockings" for the whole class! I would like to try this idea that I got from another teacher and hopefully avoid disappointed gift givers and receivers. (One year I had a child bring UNDERWEAR to give to another 5 year old, this is no joke!) So, here is how it works: rather than buy an individual gift for one student, boys and girls bring in 18 small, inexpensive items to fill the stockings. These items could include small toys, coloring books, lip balm, pencils, books, etc. The Dollar Tree and Dollar General Store have a good selection of this type of items for under $1.00. We have 12 girls and 6 boys in our class. I will provide the "stockings".
You can start sending in your items as soon as possible and would like to have everyone's turned in by Dec. 15th. You might also want to print a small label to stick on your item saying who the gift is from, that's not necessary - just an idea. Happy Shopping!
